The First Step

I offer a free online assessment, which usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes.

Choosing a counsellor is an important decision. It's about finding the right fit for you—not simply the first person you come across. The assessment is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and explore the support you're looking for. It also gives you the chance to get a sense of how I work and whether my approach feels helpful for your needs.

There is no obligation to continue afterwards—just an opportunity to take that first step.

Ongoing Sessions

Following your assessment, our first therapy session will focus on agreeing how we will work together, including your goals for therapy, the number and frequency of sessions, and what you hope to gain from the process.

Therapy can be:

  • Short-Term – 6–12 sessions,

Focused on a specific issue or goal.

  • Medium-Term – 3–6 months,

Allowing more time to explore ongoing difficulties or life changes.

  • Open-Ended – Longer-term support with no fixed end date.

Whatever we agree initially, we will review our work together during the sixth session. This provides an opportunity to reflect on your progress, consider what is working well, and decide whether you would like to continue, adjust the focus of our work, or bring therapy to a close.
